Though food combining study came out in early 90’s, Ayurveda, an ancient natural medicine, advocated the same. Knowledge is power. This chart will be helpful during those times you feel unwell or uneasy and trying to heal.

One of the first rule is do not combine protein and starch together. Body requires acid base to digest proteins and alkaline base to digest starches. Combination of rice and legumes is one of the staple food of South Indians, also advocated by Ayurveda (the famous healing Kitchari). When you eat legumes with starch, starch becomes a complete protein and is an acceptable combination. This is the only chart I found which clearly allows for starch and legume combination.
